MUD 36 ELECTION OF DIRECTORS
My name is JOHN YOARS. I am running for a vacant position on the Board of Directors of MUD 36. I have been a Woodlands MUD 36 resident for 23 years. Here is why I am asking for your support.
WATER RATES ARE TOO HIGH: I have been meeting with the San Jacinto River Authority over the past year to determine why our water rates have increased to the level they are today. I do not believe the current surface water rates are justified and the SJRA has not done enough to optimize the surface water treatment costs. I want to work for you to stop the increases and lower our water costs.
EXCESS RESERVE FUNDS BEING HELD BY THE MUD: Mud 36 has over $800,000 in reserve funds. These funds have been accumulated from our tax monies. I support the past efforts of Kent Maggert to get these funds in excess of needed to be returned to the MUD 36 tax payers. If we do not do this by when the township is incorporated they will be swept into the new incorporated entity and we in MUD 36 will lose these funds we were taxed for. I want to see these funds returned to the MUD 36 tax payers.
CAPITAL PROJECTS OVERSITE: The Woodlands Joint Powers Authority (WJPA) uses the San Jacinto River Authority to manage all water and waste water improvements in the Woodlands. The WJPA offers little oversite on the engineering and construction projects being designed, engineered, and managed. I have 40+ years in the Refining and Petrochemical Industry on operating, engineering, and construction of large projects. This includes water preparation units. I want to see that these projects are well managed and we avoid where possible future taxes to support this work.
I think these are three good reasons for you to support me in this election. Please vote for me, JOHN YOARS. Voting is at the Woodlands Joint Powers Authority Offices. A Map is attached. You will be able to vote for two candidates. May I suggest you cast your second vote for MAMIE POLK who is running for re-election.
