I, Mamie Polk, a candidate for Re-Election for director of MUD 36, support the following:
Providing the highest level of water and sewer possible.
Keeping our residents informed with current information and facts.
Fiscal responsibility. MUD 36 is financially sound with a long track record of conservative operational practices.
MUD 36’s tax rate is the lowest in The Woodlands at 3- 1/2 cents per $100 valuation.
In January 2018, MUD 36 approved a 20% homestead exemption. I supported this.
Community-wide Water Conservation efforts, including our summer watering schedule and the Wise Guys initiative to check home irrigation systems for leaks and other problems.
Proactive efforts MUD 36 has taken to mitigate drainage and flooding issues.
Good stewardship of the district’s resources. One of the reasons MUD 36 had only a handful of homes flooded by the Tax Day flood last April, the May flood a month later, followed by Hurricane Harvey, is because we pay close attention to the condition of our ditches and take proactive steps to maintain them. We have allocated considerable money in our yearly budget for regrading, dredging, and repairs. MUD 36 also pays for additional mowing of the ditches which includes mowing 4 times instead of 3 times per year.
Additionally, my home is in close proximity to one of the major ditches. I have personally walked a number of other ditches in MUD 36 to observe their condition.
Your input is very important to us at MUD 36 and we want to be responsive to your concerns and needs. After serving for eight years, I would like to help MUD 36 continue the good work for our residents.
