The Grogan’s Mill Village Associate August Yard of the Month Award proudly goes to Ms. Mary L. Ross (President of Mary Ross Custom Homes).  Ms. Ross lives in the Grogan’s Mill Village neighborhood of East Shore.   By any measure, Ms. Ross’ garden is magnificent, and it regularly bursts with varieties of scent filled blooms.  It also graces the eastern shoreline cove of Lake Woodlands which adds an additional splendor to the setting.  She performs all of the gardening chores herself (all the while listening to melodic classic Rock & Roll to the delight of passing neighbors) and it abounds with white, yellow, pink and red varieties of Antique and Hybrid Tea Roses.  Ms. Ross has been a proud citizen of The Woodlands since 1977.  She has greatly enjoyed gardening since she was a child in St. Louis, Missouri.  When asked about her passion for gardening she explained that “as a young girl, a local lady had a very beautiful garden that the whole neighborhood enjoyed together.”  It impressed her as a child and she consequently decided then to try to achieve this same high standard when she grew up.  Consequently, Ms. Ross is principally motivated to garden for the enjoyment of others and for the corollary friendships it brings.  Interestingly, because of her wonderful garden, on the days she is outside gardening a steady stream of passersby’s regularly slow down, stop, chat and share the common fellowship bond that is uniquely Grogan’s Mill.  Mary’s gardening goal for the near term is to continue to endeavor to perfect different varieties of Antique and Hybrid Tea Roses.
